MEP backs Burscough curves campaign

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 18th May 2007

The Liberal Democrat Euro Member of Parliament, Chris Davies made a visit to Southport last Tuesday morning on his European election campaign around the North West Constituency. Chris Davies and the Liberal Democrats in this election, are taking the fight to those who want to take Britain away from co-operating with our European allies on vital issues like tackling climate change, managing globalisation and confronting cross-border crime and terrorism.

Whilst the MEP was in Southport he was given a report from Norwood Councillor David Sumner, on the fight to reinstate the Burscough Curves rail link. He told David that the rail link with Preston and Ormskirk is vital for better use of public transport, and was pleased to hear that the on-line petition to the Prime Minister on reinstating the curves had reached 200 plus signatures. If you would like to sign the petition use the link on the left of the website . After meeting local people in the town centre he was back on the train to visit more town across the North West.
